Anger as an emotion is problematic both when suppressed as well as when violently enacted. Our personal health, intimate and family relationships, as well as our participation as citizens is diminished when the vitality of anger is denied effective expression.

This workshop offers practices which facilitate the transmuting of anger into fierce and creative action. It is designed to be a one-day introduction to the principles and practices that guide Transformative Learning at the Institute of Imaginal Studies. Potential themes for the day include:

  • Differentiating anger from hate and violence
  • The creative expression of anger
  • Anger's catalyzing role in intimacy
  • Harmful anger versus empowering anger
  • Anger's role in clarifying desire
  • The impact of suppressed anger on health
